About this gallery | | | About 15 km west of Pondicherry along NH-45A is this village of Sri Kandarathitta Mangalam. The ruined Siva temple in the early Chola architectural style is a protected monument of the Archaeological Survey of India. The temple is by the side of the national highway. The small siva linga in this temple (where only the garbha griha remains) has facial features, according to the inscriptions found on the southern side of the sanctum sanctorum. This temple used to be called Tirunareeswaram. There is a Perumal (Vishnu) image also in the sanctum. Ganapathy and Durga are seated outside.
